1. Open your browser of choice. In this article we will use Chrome

3. Wait for search results to appear

6. In Firefox’ download page, mark the Set Firefox as your default browser and click the Download Firefox button

7. Now the page is supposed to change and you will see at the top of the page the sentence: “Your download should begin automatically. Didn’t work? Try downloading again.
a. At this stage, the Firefox installation file, Firefox installer.exe, should start being downloaded automatically

8. Note the location of the pop-up window clarifying that the file has been downloaded

9. Open the Firefox Installer.exe. In this article we will open it through the Downloads icon in Chrome

10. After opening the file, Windows UAC window will appear. Click YES and wait for the Firefox installation wizard to load

11. Firefox will start installing itself automatically without any manual steps needed to be done

12. Once the installation process is done , Firefox will start itself automatically.

13. Since we marked the “Set Firefox as your default browser” in step 6, Firefox will automatically open the Windows Settings window under Apps > Default apps >Firefox
a. Click the Set Default button to set Firefox as the default browser of your computer

14. There might be a little side pop-up notification from Firefox on the bottom right side of the screen. Click Done.

15. After you clicked the Set default button, note that the icons next to .HTM and .HTML will change from the current icon of the default browser to Firefox’s icon

16. You can close the Windows Settings window

17. Go back to Firefox.

18. Once you are back in Firefox, you will be presented with a Welcome to Firefox pop-up screen. Click the Continue button

19. In the next step, Firefox will give you 2 options:
     a. Pin Firefox to taskbar
     b. Import from previous browser

 

  1. Choose these options at your own discretion
    1. Pin Firefox to taskbar – will attach Firefox’ icon to your Windows taskbar
    2. Import from previous browser – Will start a data importing wizard from whatever previous browser you used – to Firefox

21. In this article we unmarked them both

22. Click the Save and continue button

23. Explore staff recommended extensions – clicking this button is at your own discretion as well
a. Clicking this button will open a new tab and load the Firefox extension store, showing the Extension Starter Pack – Firefox Staff Picks
b. Feel free to browse the various extensions but since this is out of the scope of this article we will skip this step and move on forward

24. Close the extension tab opened in the previous step

25. In this step, Firefox will asks you if you would like to sign in your newly installed Firefox browser with an email account.
a. This feature is very similar to Chrome’s which gives the user the ability to login across multiple devices and share tabs, history, bookmarks and more
b. This is out o the scope of this article, therefore we will skip this step amd move on forward.

 

26. Click the Start browsing button

27. In the final stage of the configuration, Firefox will show you its homepage which is by default a Google search engine text field and some website shortcuts.

 

28. Firefox is now ready to be used.
